A temperamental creature from the underworld, summoned by Nazi’s prior to WWII, is now in the hands of a secret government agency and fighting for the good guys.
Ron Perlman provides a stature and plenty tongue-in-cheek humor as "Red" the Hellboy. Somewhat ironically, the item that makes Hellboy an above average comic-film are the human and flawed qualities of the hero who isn't human at all.
Some fine action scenes with a warm and genuinely interesting monster/hero make Hellboy a very entertaining film.
There is enough in place in this film to support several courses for sequels to explore as well.
