Willie (Hutton) returns to his sleepy Northern hometown to attend his 10 year high school reunion. Although he finds that nothing much has changed since his high school days, he soon finds complications in his own life when the knotted confusions in his friends' relationships are relived.
Beautiful Girls has a light-hearted charmer that, when combined with this all-star cast, is quite remarkable. This sleeper could have easily been missed in it's theatrical release, but don't miss it now.
Among it's highlites is a wonderful performance from Natalie Portman as Willie's young, but poetic next door neighbor.
Directed by Ted Demme. The soundtrack features Neil Diamond, Ween, The Spinners and Kiss; highly recommended. |
