Our hero (Livingston) doesn't like to work. And as a Y2K programmer, for a technological giant, he just lost his edge. So, when the company begins downsizing, he figures he'll be brutally honest with the investigators assigned to help the company cut waste. His "straight-shooter attitude" gains him a promotion. All the while, he has his two friends in programming working on making a computer virus that will withdraw money from the company account and into theirs.
You may remember Ron Livingston from Swingers, he delivers here, in a similar role. Aniston is his love interest who is fighting her own battles with her boss at the local bar and grill. And Stephen Root is hilarious as the office dweeb.
Written and directed by Bevis and Butthead creator, Mike Judge, this is a film that should enjoy a successful run on video and DVD despite it's poor showing at the box office. Why? It's funny; the scene where they beat the heck out of the office fax machine in a field is classic. Everyone who's worked in an office should love Office Space.
