A huge independent film triumph in its time, Easy Rider holds on to only a bit of its appeal today. Without question, the best thing about this film is Jack Nicholson's performance. After that, you have a bold social statement wrapped in a movie that isn't all that interesting and seems twice as long as its true running time. Largely, a film worthy more of respect for its provocative social statement than for any real entertainment value. Although it's still considered a classic by many.
