An Iowa farmer hears voices that prompt him to build a baseball diamond in his cornfield. Magical things happen when "they come".
Universally beloved film that doesn't lose any of its magic even if you have seen it twenty times. There are lots of great baseball themed movies. But Field of Dreams is unlike any of them; there is a totally different feeling happening here. Given the subject matter, heavy emotion and leading actor it may be surprising that this 'feeling' is never corny or ridiculous. This movie doesn't feel like a fantasy at all; it feels real.
As a matter of fact, I'd like to start a movement to have the box cover art changed for this film, the current art has a fantasy look to it that just doesn't do this movie justice...silly art directors.
Oh, and I love Ray Liotta as Shoeless Joe.
