A
terminally ill architect, who has been
a blight on his neighborhood for years,
tries to reestablish a relationship with
his ex-wife and rebellious teenage son
by building his dream house over the
summer.
A
tearjerker that went well received by
audiences, Life as a House posts decent
performances and an emotional wallop.
Kevin Kline seems well-suited as the
father with one last chance to make things
right. Hayden Christensen (Star Wars:
Attack of the Clones) makes it by as
the rebellious teen and Jena Malone gives
a sexy spark to a role that could've
been largely forgotten.
Some
scenes are written better than others,
but Life as a House is generally enjoyable
and certainly will satisfy those looking
for emotional impact.
Directed
by Irwin Winkler.
