A brilliant inventor uproots his family from the broken American Dream and moves them to a remote South American jungle to start his own paradise. With nature, luck and his family against him, he presses on until his family fears for his sanity.

The Mosquito Coast is one of the most poignant films of the 1980's. Here's a man who may either be brilliant or insane. It's one of Ford's best roles and finest performances. With an intelligent script and excellent symbolism, it's a wonder this film did not gain more respect and popularity. Highly recommended here, however.
