A recently separated mother buys a new house in Manhattan that is equipped with a safe panic room. Mother and daughter must use the room on their very first night in the new house when three intruders break in, looking for millions of dollars hiddenyou guessed itinside the panic room.
A reasonable amount of tension can be felt in this film. Jodie Foster is well suited for the role and comes off as a frightened but intelligent female character. Few actresses have been able to step into roles of this kind like Foster has.
The three thugs are entertaining and interesting. Each with distinctive characteristics and motives; this was very important in this film. When dealing with a small scope film like this, the audience needs to dig into the characters. We are left with a grand sense of the intruders that they had lives before pulling this job. All three give great performances, too.
Director David Fincher (Fight Club) is becoming one of my new favorite filmmakers. His style steps the movie along and is appreciated.
Directed by David Fincher.
