Dr. Grant is lured to the second JP site by a couple searching for their missing son. The effort hits a snag when large pre-historic creatures try to eat the rescue party.
Spielberg stepped away from the directorial duties of this one, but stays on as executive producer. His replacement, Joe Johnston (handpicked by Spielberg), has a decent grasp on suspenseful filmmaking. It's nice to see Sam Neil reprise his role as Dr. Grant and the thrills are found throughout in JP3.
There are a few new dinos introduced to terrorize the hapless folks on the island and plenty of action. But none of the sequences come very close to capturing the suspense of the T-Rex scenes in the first Jurassic Park film. Also, JP3 seems pretty short in runtime. Not a bad sequel by any means, but we've arrived at the point where they're beating a dead dino-horse.
Directed by Joe Johnston.
