An inventor develops a time traveling machine that hurls him from New Years' Eve 1899 into a distant perilous future.

Based on the HG Wells novel of the same name, The Time Machine is a terrific sci-fi adventure. Although the effects are dated by today's standards, adventure seekers should appreciate this film's strong storyline and interesting characterizations. A classic science fiction movie that has a remake scheduled for release in 2002.Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.
